Blazers name Clouston as GM, promote O’Donovan to AGM

The Kamloops Blazers added the title of general manager to head coach Shaun Clouston (80 goals, 122 assists in 210 games with Portland from 1986-89) on Tuesday. Clouston, 54, has served as head coach of the Blazers for the past two seasons.

Prior to joining Kamloops in 2019, the product of Viking, AB spent seven seasons in the dual role of GM and head coach of the Medicine Hat Tigers.

The Blazers also announced on Tuesday the promotion of Tim O’Donovan to assistant general manager. The 34-year-old from Regina, SK was Kamloops’ director of hockey operations for the last three seasons.

He also served as the Blazers communications and media coordinator and video coach from 2009 through to 2018.

Rockets bring in MacNevin as an assistant coach

The Kelowna Rockets announced the addition of Josh MacNevin as an assistant coach on Tuesday. The 44-year-old from Calgary, AB spent the last six seasons as an assistant with the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

In Kelowna, MacNevin takes over from Vernon Fiddler who stepped down last month to spend more time with his family.

Chiefs sign import forward Proske

The Spokane Chiefs have signed 2003-born forward Yannick Proske to a WHL standard player agreement. The native of Weißwasser, GER was the Chiefs’ second selection, 110th overall, in this year’s CHL Import Draft.

He had six points in five games with Jungadler Mannheim U20 of the German Development U20 League this past season. Proske also added one assist in 25 games with Iserlohn of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga, which is the top men’s league in Germany.

In addition, Proske posted two points in seven games internationally for Germany last season.

Low returns to the ECHL’s Reading Royals

Forward Brayden Low (26 goals, 31 assists in 187 games with Portland and Everett between 2011-15) has signed a contract with the Reading Royals of the ECHL for the 2021-22 season.

The 27-year-old from Richmond, BC posted 10 goals and 18 points in 17 games with EV Lindau of Oberliga, which is the third tier of pro hockey in Germany, in 2020-21.

He previously played in Reading for two seasons from 2018-20 and notched 33 goals and 71 points in 123 games.

Lang finds himself back in the ECHL

Forward Chase Lang (66 goals, 89 assists in 244 games with Calgary and Vancouver from 2012-16) has signed a deal with the Norfolk Admirals for the 2021-22 ECHL season.

The 24-year-old from Nanaimo, BC didn’t play anywhere of note in 2020-21 but spent parts of the previous four seasons in the ECHL with four different teams. In 138 career ECHL games, he has 30 goals and 78 points.
