Geekie re-signs with Carolina for 2021-22

Forward Morgan Geekie (78 goals, 124 assists in 216 games with Tri-City between 2014 and 2018) has signed a one-year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes worth $750,000.

The 22-year-old from Strathclair, MB, played 36 games with the Hurricanes in 2020-21 and put up nine points. He added five points in a pair of AHL games with the Chicago Wolves.

Haas takes his game to Dundee, Scotland

Defenseman Kyle Haas (one goal, three assists in 46 games with Saskatoon in 2011-12) is back playing competitive hockey after signing with the Dundee Stars of the UK’s Elite Ice Hockey League for 2021-22.

Haas, 27, didn’t play anywhere of note this past season but the Calgary, AB native tallied nine points in 45 games with the ECHL’s Fort Wayne Komets in 2019-20.

Dhanjal and Sasaki join the AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks

The Abbotsford Canucks of the American Hockey League announced on Friday that Prince George Cougars equipment manager Ramandeep Dhanjal has joined the club as head equipment manager.

Dhanjal, who’s from Saskatoon, SK, spent the last 13 seasons with the Cougars after starting his career with Humboldt of the SJHL in 2005.

The Baby Canucks have also hired Shingo Sasaki away from the Vancouver Giants, where he was the WHL team’s equipment manager. He assumes the role of assistant equipment manager with Abbotsford.

Sasaki worked for the Giants over the last eight seasons and also represented Japan at the World U18 Division 1B Hockey Championship and World Division 1B Hockey Championships numerous times.
