2001-born defenseman Bryan McAndrews has signed with the Spruce Grove Saints of the Alberta Junior Hockey League for the 2021-22 season.
McAndrews, who’s from Edmonton, AB, spent the last three seasons in the WHL with the Tri-City Americans. In 117 games, he posted two goals and six points.

Forward Jordan Weal (135 goals, 250 assists in 282 games with Regina from 2008-12) has signed with Ak Bars Kazan of the Kontinental Hockey League for 2021-22.
Weal, 29, spent the 2020-21 season with the American Hockey League’s Laval Rocket. The Saskatoon, SK product put up 24 points in 34 games.

The Portland Winterhawks, on the cusp of revealing a new logo, announced a branding partnership with a local company called Portland Gear on Tuesday afternoon.
Along with the announcement, the Winterhawks also released a new wordmark for the team’s brand.

Goaltender Jackson Whistle (87-29-11, 2.59 GAA, .912 SV%, 9 SO in 141 games with Vancouver and Kelowna from 2011-16) has signed a contract to return to the Belfast Giants of the Elite Ice Hockey League, where he played from 2016-18.
The 26-year-old from Kelowna, BC posted a 6-2-0 record along with a 2.56 goals-against-average, a .920 save percentage, and one shutout in nine games with the Nottingham Panthers during the 2020-21 EIHL Series.
He also played for Great Britain at the World Championships, finishing at 0-2 with a 5.13 goals-against-average and an .874 save percentage.

Forward Dylan Wruck (87 goals, 169 assists in 259 games with Edmonton from 2009-13) inked a deal with Löwen Frankfurt of DEL2 for 2021-22. DEL2 is the second tier of pro hockey in Germany.
The Saskatoon, SK product had 23 goals and 78 points in 49 games with Heilbronner Falken in DEL2 this past season, the 28-year-old’s seventh in Germany.
Maylan signs with Rostocker
Forward Justin Maylan (87 goals, 167 assists in 331 games with Moose Jaw, Prince George, and Prince Albert from 2007-12) goes from Romania to Germany after signing with Rostocker EC of Oberliga for the 2021-22 season.
The 30-year-old Calgarian split the 2020-21 season between two leagues but with the same SC Csíkszereda team. He had 23 points in 23 games in Erste Liga and 22 points in 16 games in the Romanian League.
Martin joins the Maine Mariners

Defenseman Brycen Martin (21 goals, 110 assists in 277 games with Swift Current, Saskatoon, and Everett from 2012-16) signed with the Maine Mariners of the ECHL on Tuesday.
Martin, 25, spent the 2020-21 season in Poland, posting five points in 10 games with GKS Tychy. The Calgary, AB native is a veteran of 196 ECHL games over the last five seasons.
