Hitmen sign Zandee 

The Calgary Hitmen have signed 16-year-old forward Tristan Zandee to a WHL Education Contract. Zandee had been committed to Colorado College for the 2022-23 season but is forgoing that commitment to play for Calgary. A second-round pick of the Hitmen in 2018, Zandee had 12 goals and 13 assists in 46 games with the AJHL’s Canmore Eagles in 2019-20.

Garand named WHL Scholastic Player of the Year

When he wasn’t backstopping the Kamloops Blazers to a B.C. Division title netminder Dylan Garand was working hard in the classroom, earning himself this year’s WHL Scholastic Player of the Year. Garand held an average of 96.5% as a grade 12 student in Kamloops.

Horak signs in the Czech Republic

Roman Horak (130 GP, 47 G, 78 A with the Chilliwack Bruins from 2009-2011) has signed with HC Sparta Praha in the Czech Republic for the 2020-21 season. A fifth-round pick of the New York Rangers in 2009, Horak tallied 11 goals and 19 assists in 52 games playing for the Vaxjo Lakers in 2019-20.

Waltz signs in France

Colton Waltz (272 GP, 15 G, 74 A with the BrandonWheat Kings and Saskatoon Blades from 2010-16) has signed with Strasbourg in France for the 2020-21 season. Waltz just graduated from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology where he played 70 games recording 10 goals and 41 assists.
