Hardy done for the season

Moose Jaw Warriors captain Owen Hardy has been shut down for the remainder of the season due to an upper-body injury suffered on February 16th in Portland. As an overage forward, this news also means that Hardy’s WHL career has also come to a close. He finishes with 52 goals and 50 assists in 275 games with the Vancouver Giants and Moose Jaw Warriors from 2015-20.

Holmes gets two-game suspension

Regina’s Robbie Holmes has been suspended for two games for this hit on Edmonton’s Keegan Slaney. He has already served one game of suspension after sitting out on Sunday vs. Brandon. He will miss his second game on Friday vs. Medicine Hat and will be eligible to return the next night in the rematch with the Tigers.

Royals clinch a playoff spot

The CHL is already facing a class-action lawsuit over the minimum wage issue and could be facing another suit, this time over concussions if a lawsuit filed by former Seattle Thunderbirds and Kelowna Rockets forward James McEwan is certified by the Supreme Court of British Columbia.

De La Gorgendiere, Wolf named to CHL Team of the Week

The WHL’s Player of the Week, Aidan De La Gorgendiere and the WHL’s Goaltender of the Week Dustin Wolf have both been named to the CHL Team of the Week.

  • Edmonton’s Dylan Guenther broke the Oil Kings record for rookie goals (25) and points (56) on Tuesday. Matthew Robertson also recorded his 100th WHL point.
  • Kelowna’s Conner McDonald registered his 100th WHL assist.

Keith scores 100th WHL goal

Duncan Keith (37 GP, 11 G, 35 A with the Kelowna Rockets) scored his 100th NHL goal on Tuesday, all with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Checkers sign Leier

The Charlotte Checkers have signed Boston Leier (259 GP, 68 G, 99 A with the Medicine Hat Tigers and Regina Pats from 2009-14) to a professional try-out contract. In 29 games with the Kalamazoo Wings this year, Leier has 10 goals and nine assists.

Swenson signs in ECHL

Seth Swenson (306 GP, 41 G, 65 A with the Portland Winterhawks, Seattle Thunderbirds and Lethbridge Hurricanes from 2009-14) has signed with the ECHL’s Atlanta Gladiators for the rest of this season. In 34 games with the SPHL’s Evansville Thunderbolts, he notched eight goals and 17 assists.
