Martin earns first WHL win

Victoria Royals 2002-born goaltender Connor Martin earned his first WHL win in a 3-2 overtime win over the Prince George Cougars. Martin made 43 saves on 45 shots to improve his career record to 1-2-0-1, with a 2.94 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage.

Laroque scores first WHL goal

Victoria Royals 2003-born defenseman Gannon Laroque scored his first WHL goal at 13:44 of the second period to give the Royals a 2-0 lead. They went on to win 3-2 in overtime. Laroque was playing his seventh WHL game.

Royals Fizer hits 100 points

2001-born forward Tarun Fizer hit the 100 career point mark when he assisted on Gannon Laroque’s second-period goal. Fizer has scored 36 goals and added 65 assists through 175 career games. Fizer is a fourth-round draft pick of the Royals from the 2016 WHL Draft.

Tracey collects 150th WHL point

Anaheim Ducks prospect Brayden Tracey hit 150 points when he scored on the power play in the second period of last night’s 3-2 win over the Prince George Cougars. Tracey finished the night with three points giving him 152 in his career. Tracey, a 2016 first-round draft pick of the Moose Jaw Warriors, has 61 goals and 91 assists.

Ferguson scores first WHL goal

2002-born Tri-City Americans defenseman Ian Ferguson scored his first WHL goal in last night’s 5-2 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds. Ferguson’s goal came at 2:18 of the first period and tied the score at one.

Geekie returns to Canes lineup

Forward Morgan Geekie (216GP, 78G, 124A with Tri-City ’13-’18) has been recalled by the Carolina Hurricanes from their taxi squad. This season in 18 games with the Hurricanes, Geekie has two goals. He has also played two games with the Chicago Wolves where he has four goals and one assist. Geekie was a third-round 2017 NHL Draft selection by the Hurricanes. Won the Calder Cup Championship with the Charlotte Checkers in 2018-19.

Johnson reassigned to Rockford

Forward Reese Johnson (187GP, 55G, 45A with Red Deer ’14-’19) has been reassigned by the Chicago Blackhawks to the Rockford IceHogs. In five games with the Blackhawks this season, Johnson has yet to hit the scoresheet. In nine games with the IceHogs, Johnson has three goals and three assists. Johnson was not drafted to the NHL and was signed as a free agent by the Blackhawks on March 6, 2019.

Burroughs reassigned to Colorado’s taxi squad

Defenseman Kyle Burroughs (250GP, 22G, 98A with Regina ’10-’15) has been reassigned to the Colorado Avalanche’s taxi squad following his emergency loan. Burroughs only NHL game saw him get into a fight and was a -1. In eight games with the AHL’s Colorado Eagles, Burroughs has one assist. Burroughs is a seventh-round pick of the New York Islanders from the 2013 NHL Draft.

Rasmussen recalled to Red Wings roster

Forward Michael Rasmussen (161GP, 81G, 76A with Tri-City ’14-’18) has been recalled by the Detroit Red Wings from their taxi squad. Rasmussen, a 2017 first-round pick of the Red Wings, has played 25 games with the NHL club, scoring two goals and adding five assists. Rasmussen has also played seven games with the team’s AHL affiliate, Grand Rapids Griffins, and has two goals and four assists.

Cholowski reassigned to Grand Rapids

Defenseman Dennis Cholowski (69GP, 14G, 52A with Prince George and Portland ’17-’18) has been reassigned from the Grand Rapids Griffins to the Detroit Red Wings taxi squad. Cholowski, a 2016 first-round pick of the Red Wings, has played two games with the Wings this season and has yet to register a point. With the Griffins, Cholowski has played 13 games and has three goals and seven assists.

Clague reassigned to Kings’ taxi squad

Defenseman Kale Clague (195GP, 26G, 141A with Brandon and Moose Jaw ’13-’18) has been reassigned by the Los Angeles Kings to the team’s taxi squad. A former second-round pick in 2016 of the LA Kings, Clague has played in 13 games with the NHL club this season and has four assists. In 18 games with the Ontario Reign, Clague has scored one goal and added five assists.

Strand reassigned to Kings’ taxi squad

Defenseman Austin Strand (268GP, 40G, 82A with Red Deer and Seattle ’14-’18) has been reassigned by the Los Angeles Kings to the team’s taxi squad. An undrafted prospect of the Kings, Strand has one assist in 12 games with the NHL club. Strand has played 11 games with the team’s AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign, and has four assists.

Baddock reassigned to Laval

Forward Brandon Baddock (255GP, 54G, 49A with Edmonton ’11-’16) was reassigned from the Montreal Canadiens taxi squad to the Laval Rocket. Baddock has played 17 games with the Rocket this season, scoring twice and adding three assists. Baddock was a sixth-round 2014 NHL Draft pick of the New Jersey Devils.

Bellows recalled by Islanders

Forward Kieffer Bellows (56GP, 41G, 33A with Portland ’17-’18) has been recalled from the taxi squad to the New York Islanders’ main roster. Bellows has played 14 games with the Islanders, scoring three goals. Bellows was a first-round 2016 NHL Draft pick of the Islanders.

Gregor recalled by San Jose

Forward Noah Gregor (257GP, 129G, 164A with Moose Jaw, Victoria, and Prince Albert ’14-’19) has been recalled from the San Jose Sharks taxi squad to the main roster. A fourth-round 2016 NHL Draft pick of the Sharks, Gregor has played 16 games with the team this season scoring three goals. Gregor has also played 10 games with the AHL affiliate San Jose Barracuda, scoring three times and adding six assists.

Scott reassigned to Marlies

Goaltender Ian Scott (175GP, 87-64-11, 2.90GAA, .905sv% with Prince Albert ’15-’19) has been reassigned by the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Toronto Marlies. Scott, a 2017 fourth-round NHL Draft pick of the Leafs, has yet to play a game this season.

Glass reassigned to taxi squad following emergency call up

Forward Cody Glass (239GP, 94G, 198A with Portland ’15-’19) has been reassigned to the Vegas Golden Knights taxi squad following an emergency exception. Glass has played 27 games with the Golden Knights, scoring four times and adding six assists. In his only game with the Henderson Silver Knights, the Golden Knights 2017 first-round draft pick has one goal.
