The Prince George Cougars have signed 2001-born defenseman Joe Kennedy to a WHL Player Agreement. The Ontario native is a free agent signing after the Cougars claimed him off waivers. He was originally a fourth-round pick of the OHL’s Saginaw Spirit but never suited up for the team. Last season he split the year between the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Markham Royals and Stouffville Spirit and registered two goals and two assists in 53 games.

The Medicine Hat Tigers have signed Teague Patton to a WHL Player Agreement. The 2003-born forward wasn’t drafted in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft and reported to the Okanagan Rockets of the BCMML last season where he recorded 10 goals and 17 assists in 35 games. He will be eligible to be in the Tigers lineup come opening night.

The Calgary Hitmen have cut their training camp roster down to 31 players. Of note, Ethan Buenaventura has been returned to his midget team as he is ineligible to be with the Hitmen full-time this season. Cael Zimmerman is also listed as being out indefinitely following off-season hip surgery.

A day after signing with the Edmonton Oil Kings, Kolby Hay and Colby Knight are headed back to their respective midget teams. The two netminders each saw 15 minutes of game action in Tuesday’s 5-2 victory over the Red Deer Rebels. Hay made eight saves on eight shots while Knight stopped 14 of 15 pucks sent his way.

After being added to their roster on Tuesday, the Langley Riverman have confirmed that Brendan Budy will be returning to the organization for the 2019-20 season. In his first stint with the team, Budy had 37 goals and 64 assists in 105 games. His WHL rights were recently acquired by the Vancouver Giants in a trade which saw Joel Sexsmith head to the Red Deer Rebels. The trade also included conditional picks going each way and one assumes the Giants will get a better pick if Budy does not sign with the team.
