Pasternak jumps to Portland

The Portland Winterhawks announced the addition of forward Dawson Pasternak for the 2021-22 WHL season. The Winterhawks selected him in the fourth round of the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.

Pasternak, who’s from Winnipeg, MB, spent the last two seasons with the Chicago Steel of the US Hockey League. The 2003-born forward posted 11 goals and 37 points in 86 games with the Steel.

T-Birds and Pats play “Let’s Make a Deal”

The Seattle Thunderbirds traded 2002-born defenseman Luke Bateman to the Regina Pats on Tuesday in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft.

Batemen is a 2002-born blueliner who played 83 games for the T-Birds between 2019 and this past season. He posted a total of two goals and 18 points in Seattle.

Chiefs bring in Filippone as athletic trainer

The Spokane Chiefs announced the appointment of David Filippone as athletic trainer and conditioning coach for the 2021-22 season.

The Pitman, NJ native replaces Joseph Hurley, who was the Chiefs’ trainer since 2017. He recently was hired by a team in the American Hockey League.

Estephan signs a deal with Litvinov

Forward Giorgio Estephan (131 goals, 194 assists in 327 games with Lethbridge and Swift Current from 2013-18) has signed with HC Litvinov, which plays in Tipsport Extraliga in the Czech Republic.

The 24-year-old from Edmonton, AB played most of 2020-21 with Kansas City of the ECHL. In 40 games with the Mavericks, he posted 44 points. Estephan also had seven points in 19 games with the Stockton Heat of the AHL.

Johnson signs a contract with Manitoba for 2021-22

Andover, MN product Isaac Johnson (57 goals, 96 assists in 161 games with Tri-City and Winnipeg from 2017-20) has signed an AHL contract for the 2021-22 season with the Manitoba Moose.

The 22-year-old winger split the 2020-21 season between Huntsville and Knoxville of the Southern Professional Hockey League, totalling seven goals and 20 points.

Bezuch to play with HK Dukla Trencin in 2021-22

Skalica, SVK native and forward Juraj Bezúch (eight goals, 13 assists in 67 games with Lethbridge in 2011-12) signed an extension with HK Dukla Trencin of Slovakia’s Tipos Extraliga for 2021-22.

Bezúch, 27, notched eight goals and 17 points in 34 games for Dukla Trencin this past season, his fourth career campaign with the team.

Morrison takes his game to Dundee

Goaltender Adam Morrison (79-38-10, 2.93 goals-against-average, .899 save percentage, five shutouts in 136 games with Saskatoon and Vancouver from 2008-12) has joined the Dundee Stars of the UK’s Elite Ice Hockey League.

Morrison, a 30-year-old from Edmonton, AB, didn’t play any games of record in 2020-21 but spent the 2019-20 season with the EIHL’s Fife Flyers. In 49 games with Fife, he had a 15-34-0 record along with a 3.13 goals-against-average and a .915 save percentage.

Williams and Goulbourne sign AHL contracts with Belleville

The AHL’s Belleville Senators announced the signing of forward Tyrell Goulbourne (60 goals, 65 assists in 275 games with Kelowna from 2010-15) and defenseman Colby Williams (25 goals, 79 assists in 211 games with Regina from 2010-16) on Tuesday.

Goulbourne, 27, had a goal and an assist in 18 AHL games with the Henderson Silver Knights in 2020-21. The Edmontonian is a veteran of 294 AHL games over six seasons.

Williams, who’s from Regina, SK, returns to Belleville after posting three goals and 10 points with the Sens in 27 games this past season. The 26-year-old has played the last five seasons in the AHL.
