Allegations against Kane investigated by the NHL

The NHL released a statement on Saturday that it is investigating a social media post that alleges San Jose Sharks forward Evander Kane (73 goals, 65 assists in 134 games with Vancouver from 2006-09) bet on games he was involved in.

Kane, 29, had 22 goals and 49 points in 56 games with the Sharks during the 2020-21 season.

Roach signs a DEL try-out with Kölner Haie

Defenseman Alex Roach (35 goals, 92 assists in 240 games with Calgary from 2010-14) has signed a try-out contract with Kölner Haie of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

The 28-year-old from Schongau, GER had a goal and eight assists in 31 games with Löwen Frankfurt of the DEL2 in 2020-21.

Pouliot signs a deal with AHL Henderson

Defenseman Derrick Pouliot (42 goals, 163 assists in 247 games with Portland from 2010-14) has signed a one-year contract with the Henderson Silver Knights of the American Hockey League.

The 27-year-old from Estevan, SK posted three goals and 14 points in 25 games with the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms in 2020-21.

Howden inks a deal with Kölner Haie for 2021-22

Twenty-nine year old forward Quinton Howden (111 goals, 128 assists in 244 games with Moose Jaw from 2008-12) signed with Kölner Haie of the DEL for 2021-22.

Howden, who’s from Winnipeg, MB, had three assists in 11 games with the Malmö Redhawks of the Swedish Hockey League in 2020-21, his fourth season in Europe.

Callahan hangs up his skates

Forward Mitch Callahan (57 goals, 71 assists in 204 games with Kelowna from 2008-11) took to Instagram on Saturday to announce his retirement. The 29-year-old from Whittier, CA had a goal in six games with Rødovre Mighty Bulls of Denmark’s Metal Ligaen this past season.

Reaves inks an extension with the Blueshirts

Forward Ryan Reaves (36 goals, 43 assists in 201 games with Brandon from 2004-07) signed a one-year contract with the New York Rangers on Saturday.

Reaves was acquired by the Rangers from Vegas on Thursday. The 34-year-old from Winnipeg, MB, has 49 goals and 101 points in 686 career NHL games with St. Louis, Pittsburgh, and Vegas.
