Dach sticks with Blackhawks

Saskatoon Blades fans won’t get to see Kirby Dach in the lineup anytime soon as the Chicago Blackhawks confirmed he will remain in Chicago for the foreseeable future. In six games with the Blackhawks, this season he has a goal and an assist.

Crossley released by Crossley

The Prince George Cougars have released 1999-born defenseman, Austin Crossley. The Fort St. John, BC native played 12 games this year with one assist. His career has spanned 159 games with the Prince Albert Raiders and Prince George Cougars in which he has eight goals and 13 assists. The Cougars now have an open overage spot with only Josh Maser and Ryan Schoettler remaining with the roster.

ICE recall Prosofsky 

The Winnipeg ICE have recalled Karter Prosofsky from the RINK Hockey Academy Midget Prep team. The sixteen-year-old defenseman has one goal in two games this season with RINK. He’s played two WHL games with the ICE and has yet to register his first WHL point.

Topping injured in game against Victoria  

Kyle Topping left Wednesday’s game against the Victoria Royals after falling awkwardly into the boards. There’s no word on what his injury status may be, so it’s something to keep an eye on.

CHL releases weekly rankings 

The Edmonton Oil Kings are climbing near the top of the CHL weekly rankings with a second-place finish. Prince Albert stayed put in fourth place and Everett climbed into ninth place. The Portland Winterhawks are back on the radar as an honourable mention.

WHL announces leadership group for Canada/Russia Series 

Ty Smith (Spokane Chiefs/New Jersey Devils) will captain the WHL’s representation in the 2019 Canada/Russia Series. Bowen Byram (Vancouver Giants/Colorado Avalanche) , Dylan Cozens (Lethbridge Hurricanes) and Nolan Foote (Kelowna Rockets/Tampa Bay Lightning) will serve as the assistants.

Thunderbirds announce TV Broadcast schedule 

The Seattle Thunderbirds announced that they’ve reached a partnership with JOEtv to broadcast eight games on television during the 2019-20 season. All eight games will feature the Portland Winterhawks as the opponent with the first game taking place on November 2nd.

Winterhawks to broadcast 8 games against Seattle on CW

The Portland Winterhawks also announced that they will be broadcast the same eight games against the Seattle Thunderbirds on Portland’s CW Channel.

Schwiebus records first career shutout 

Cole Schweibus made 33 saves in a 1-0 victory over the Victoria Royals for his first career shutout in the WHL.

Gallagher suits up for 500th NHL game

Brendan Gallagher (244 GP, 136 G, 144 A with the Vancouver Giants) played his 500th NHL game on Wednesday night for the Montreal Canadiens. Now in his eighth season in the NHL, Gallagher has scored 157 goals and added 145 assists.

Blichfeld scores first pro goal 

Joachim Blichfeld (187 GP, 105 G, 123 A with the Portland Winterhawks) scored his first professional goal for the San Jose Barracuda.

Gregory passes away at 83

The NHL announced the passing of former NHL executive Jim Gregory at the age of 83 today. He will be familiar with junior hockey fans as the head of NHL Central Scouting from 1979-1986. In 2012, the Canadian Hockey League announced that the awards handed out at the CHL/NHL Top Prospects game would be named in his honour. Our thoughts are with those who knew him.

Third Star: Calen Addison also notched a goal and an assist in the loss to Winnipeg

Logan Davis had two assists for Winnipeg. Jesse Makaj had 31 saves on 34 shots for Winnipeg. Carl Tetachuk made 39 saves on 42 shots for Lethbridge.
