Wiesblatt’s season ends

The Prince Albert Raiders have announced that 19-year-old center Ozzy Wiesblatt‘s season will be cut short due to an upper-body injury. Wiesblatt will head to San Jose for further evaluation to determine his next steps. A first-round pick by the Sharks in 2020 (31st overall) signed an entry-level contract with the NHL club on October 16, 2020.

The Calgary product had 41 points (10G-31A) in 43 games with the Raiders this season. In 195 career DUB games, he collected 179 points (58G-121A).

Ridley gets his day

Bob Ridley, the long-time voice of the Medicine Hat Tigers was honored in a pre-game ceremony at Co-Op Place in Medicine Hat.

Bob Ridley called his first game for the Medicine Hat Tigers in the fall of 1970. Over the next 51 years, Bob would call over 4000 games for the Tigers and drive the team’s bus more than 3 million kilometers. Bob has been witness to all five of the Tigers Western Hockey League Championships and two Memorial Cup Championships. To say that Bob is an icon is an understatement, mention the name Ridz to anyone in the hockey world and they’ll surely crack a smile and have a story to tell. Bob’s impact on the game of hockey has been incredible. We are honoured to be able to call him our own and honour him as he so rightly deserves.

Lind scores first NHL goal

Kole Lind (Kelowna 2014-18) scored his first NHL goal on Friday night for the Seattle Kraken in a 5-2 loss to the Vegas Golden Nights. The forward had played a majority of the season with the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers. The 23-year-old forward has skated in 12 games with the Kraken where he now has five points (1G-4A). In 46 games with the Checkers, he has 35 points (17G-18A) to go with 106 penalty minutes.

The Shaunavon, SK product played his entire DUB career with the Rockets where he put up 224 points (83G-141A) in 204 games.
