DUB’s Daily Dose: Král recalled by Maple Leafs, Scherbak, Hannoun extend overseas, and more!

 

Král recalled by Maple Leafs

Filip Král (Spokane 2017-20) was recalled by the Toronto Maple Leafs from the Marlies on an emergency basis. The Czech defenseman has played the entire season with the Marlies where he has 20 points (3G-17A) in 51 games.

The fifth-round pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Maple Leafs played three seasons in the DUB, all with the Chiefs where he collected 120 points (31G-89A) in 154 games.

Dewar reassigned to Iowa

22-year-old Connor Dewar (Everett 2015-19) was reassigned by the Minnesota Wild to their AHL club in Iowa. The center has played for both clubs this season, mostly in Minnesota where he has five points (2G-3A) in 30 games. WIth Iowa, he has 11 points (6G-5A) in 12 games.

The four-year DUB star played his entire career with the Silvertips where he was the captain for his final campaign. In 270 games the The Pas, MB product had 197 points (99G-98A).

Scherbak extends with Mountfield HK

26-year-old Nikita Scherbak (Saskatoon, Everett 2013-15) signed a one-year extension with Hradec Kravlove Mountfield (Czechia). The Moskva-born forward started the season with HC Banska Bystrica (Slovakia) where he had 21 points (6G-15A) in 25 games before joining Hradec Kravlove on January 15, 2022. With the Mountfield club he has 12 points (4G-8A) in 17 games.

The NHL first-round draft pick (26th overall in 2014 by the Montreal Canadiens) played two seasons in the DUB, his first with the Blades, his second with the Silvertips. In 130 games he had 160 points (55G-105A) averaging 1.23 points per game.

Hannoun extends with HC Pusteral

Dante Hannoun (Victoria, Prince Albert 2013-19) has signed a one-year extension with HC Pusteral of Italy’s ICEHL. He played his first season with Pusteral in 2021-22, his third season in Italy. In 42 games this season the 5-foot-6 forward had 27 points (5G-22A).

The Delta, BC product had a long DUB career, suiting up for 314 games mostly with the Royals before being traded to the Raiders where he won a WHL Championship in 2018-19. In those 314 games he had 279 points on 108 goals and 171 assists.

McAuley acquired by Allen Americans

Colby McAuley (Prince George 2014-17) was traded for a second time this season, this time to the Allen Americans by the South Carolina Stingrays. He returns to the Americans where he played the 2020-21 season.

The 25-year-old had played 32 games with the Steelheads where he had 23 points (9G-14A). He also had a tryout with the Hershey Bears (AHL) where he had one assist in five games. He never got into a game with the Stingrays before this deal.

The Sherwood Park, AB played 191 games in the DUB, all with the Cougars where he notched 96 points (44G-52A).

Franklin acquired by Reading

Zane Franklin (Lethbridge, Kamloops 2014-20) was traded by the Allen Americans to the Reading Royals in a trade involving the ECHL clubs. The 23-year-old Marwayne, AB product had played the 2021-22 season with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies (U SPORTS) where he had 26 points (6G-20A) in 20 games. He had played the 2020-21 season with the Americans.

In 268 DUB games split between the Hurricanes and Blazers the 5-foot-11 forward had 213 points (77G-136A).

Gally traded to Mavericks

Towering defenseman Dalton Gally (Medicine Hat, Kelowna 2016-19) was traded to the Kansas City Mavericks by the Florida Everblades in a trade made between the ECHL teams. He started the season with McGill University (U SPORTS) where he played seven games and collected a pair of points (2A) before joining the pro ranks on February 15, 2022. In six games with the Everblades he had two assists.

The 6-ft-5 defensive defenseman started his DUB career with the Tigers before finishing with the Rockets. In 194 games, Gally had 31 points (3G-28A).
