Rockets Have Three Games Postponed Due to Covid Protocols

 

The WHL  announced on Friday that as a result of multiple players and staff being added to the Cover protocol list, that 15 teams have paused team activities. The League also announced they postponed eight games. Those included three  Kelowna Rockets games.

-Friday, January 7 vs Vancouver Giants

-Tuesday, January 11 at Prince George Cougars

-Wednesday, January 12 at Prince George Cougars

The Rockets are not one of the teams that are paused. The 15 teams are.

  • Kamloops Blazers
  • Medicine Hat Tigers
  • Moose Jaw Warriors
  • Prince Albert Raiders
  • Prince George Cougars
  • Red Deer Rebels
  • Regina Pats
  • Saskatoon Blades
  • Spokane Chiefs
  • Tri-City Americans
  • Victoria Royals
  • Winnipeg ICE

In addition to the Rockets three games that have been postponed, the following five games have also been postponed.

Saturday, January 8  Spokane at Seattle.

Tuesday, January 11 Calgary at Regina

                                  Prince George at Edmonton

                                  Spokane at Victoria 

Wednesday, January 12 Calgary at Moose Jaw

                                      Spokane at Victoria 

The Lethbridge Hurricanes and the Swift Current Broncos have been cleared for team activities. It is anticipated that numerous other clubs on pause will be cleared to resume activities in the coming days.

WHL Commissioner Ron Robison said in a statement that the League is committed to completing the 68 game season.

“The WHL and our member Clubs remain fully committed to playing through the 68-game WHL Regular Season schedule and Playoffs. As we work through the challenges presented by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, our priority continues to be to deliver a world-class development experience for WHL players, staff, and officials, and to do so in a safe and healthy manner. On behalf of the entire WHL, I wish to thank WHL fans and WHL corporate partners everywhere for their patience as we work to reschedule games in the coming weeks.

The Rockets’ next scheduled game is Friday, January 14 when they host the Victoria Royals.
