Prince George Cougars 2021-2022 schedule: what you need to know

 

The Prince George Cougars have released their schedule for the coming season. They will only play games against the BC Division and US Division this season as per the WHL’s previous announcement.

Here are some things you need to know about the schedule:

Weekend games at CN Centre

24 of the 34 homes game this season occur on either Friday, Saturday, and  Sunday.

Here is the breakdown:

Tuesday – 5

Wednesday – 5

Thursday – 0

Friday – 10

Saturday – 12

Sunday – 2

Back to backs galore

This season, the Cougars will play 30 back-to-back series. Included in the 30 is one different three games in three nights series.

Not much weekday action

The Cougars only play 18 of the 68 game schedule on Tuesday and Wednesdays. Fans will have the weekends to experience Cougars hockey in most cases.

Home opener and season opener

The Cougars will open up their season at CN Centre on October 2nd against the Kamloops Blazers. A week later, they are off to Vancouver for a Friday, October 8, and Saturday, October 9 games against the Vancouver Giants.

Longest Home Stand and Road Trip

The Cougars have two six-game homestands this season. The first is Tuesday, November 9 to Saturday, November 20. The second being Friday, February 18 to Saturday, March 5. The longest road trips are seven games. The first from Saturday, January 22 to Saturday, February 5. The second from Friday, March 18 to Friday, April 1.

Key Dates

The Cougars and end the season against the Kamloops Blazers. The Cougars’ final 12 games are all against BC Division rivals. This includes their final seven-game road trip from Friday, March 18 to Friday, April 1.

Get Excited

The Cougars are looking to get back into the playoffs for the first time since 2017.

Led by a strong goaltending tandem of Taylor Gauthier and Tyler Brennan, along with last year’s leading scorer Craig Armstrong, the Cougars have every intention of making that happen this year.
