Kamloops Blazers 2021-2022 schedule: what you need to know

 

The Kamloops Blazers have released their schedule for the coming season. They will only play games against the BC Division and US Division this season as per the WHL’s previous announcement.

Here are some things you need to know about the schedule.

The Blazers will play 68 games this year. 48 games will be within the BC Division. The Blazers will play six games on home ice and six games at the home of each of their BC Division opponents. Of the remaining 20 games against the US Division, they will play two games at home and two away.

Weekend games at The Sandman Centre

23 of the 34 homes game this season occur on either Friday or Saturday.

Back to backs galore

This season, the Blazers will play 23 back-to-back series. Included in the 23 are two different three games in three nights series.

Not much weekday action

The Blazers only play 16 of the 68 game schedule from Monday to Wednesday. Blazers fans will have to wait until the weekend to experience Blazers hockey in most cases.

Home opener and season opener

The Blazers will open up their season in Prince George on October 2nd. They will have to wait a week until they play their next game which is their home opener on October 9th versus Prince George.

Month by month breakdown

October 10 games – 3 home, 7 road

November 10 games – 3 home, 7 road

December 11 games – 6 home, 5 road

January 12 games – 7 home, 5 road

February 11 games – 6 home, 5 road

March  12 games – 8 home, 4 road

April 2 games – 1 home, 1 road

Longest Homestand and road trip

The longest road trip is five games from November 20th – December 3rd. Two games in Seattle. Then one in each of Portland, Everett, and Vancouver.

The longest homestand is four games from January 22nd – January 29th. One game against Prince George, one against Vancouver, and then two against Victoria.

Blazers-Rockets rivalry

Although the Blazers-Rockets rivalry does not start the season, the rivalry will be a key at the end of the season. They will have a four-game season series from March 18-March 25. Two Friday and Saturday home and home series.

Get excited

It will be an exciting season for the Blazers. Logan Stankoven is expected to be a first or second-round draft pick. Expect big things from Josh Pillar, Connor Zary, and Caeden Bankier this season.

The regular season will conclude Sunday, April 3 in Prince George.
