Cougars Samson drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers

On Saturday afternoon the Philadelphia Flyers selected Prince George Cougars defenceman Ethan Samson in the sixth round, 174th overall at the 2021 NHL Draft.

Samson led all Prince George Cougars’ defencemen in scoring last season with 12 points (1G, 11A) in 22 games. Samson had seven points (2G 5A) in 61 games during the shortened 2019-2020 WHL season.

The native of Delta, B.C. was drafted in the third round, 65th overall by the Cougars at the 2018 WHL Draft.

Samson tweeted how excited he was to be drafted by the Flyers.

Samson is the first Prince George Cougars drafted to the NHL since the Chicago Blackhawks selected Cole Moburg in the seventh round, 194th overall in the 2019 Draft.
