The Prince George Cougars announced their roster for the 2020-21 WHL season. Included on the roster are 10 WHL rookies, one of which is 2005-born Riley Heidt. There are also six 2004-born and three 2003-born rookies. The Cougars are carrying only two 20-year-old players, North Delta, BC’s Ilijah Colina (200GP, 27G, 52A with Portland and Prince George) and Beaumont, AB’s Jack Sander (181GP, 8G, 30A).

Greg Harder of The Regina Leader-Post is reporting that the Semple family is poised to take over as sole owners of the Regina Pats. The Semple family are already part owners of the team with Anthony Marquart and Todd Lumbard. The Semple family is best known as owners of the Brandt Group of Companies, a leader in the agricultural industry.
It is expected the WHL’s Board of Governors will take a vote on the change in ownership, possibly as early as Thursday. A formal announcement will follow.
Roblin to join Riley on Tigers home broadcasts

Scott Roblin will be joining Bob Ridley on the home broadcasts of the Medicine Hat Tigers gams for the rest of the season. Roblin is a graduate of the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and has worked as a sports broadcaster on 100.9 the Eagle in Okotoks, AB as well as joining CHAT TV in Medicine Hat as a sports broadcaster. Bob Ridley has been the play-by-play voice of more than 4,000 Tigers hockey games.

Forward Dylan Coghlan (265GP, 38G, 107A with Tri-City ’14-’18) scored his first NHL goal on Wednesday night as the Vegas Golden Knights lost to the Minnesota Wild 4-3. Coghlan’s first goal of the night came at 1:42 of the opening period. His second goal came with just six minutes left in the game. Coghlan capped the hat trick off at 17:50 of the third period as his team fell just short of the comeback. Coghlan has played 12 NHL games this season and has three goals and an assist.
Herauf joins Concordia Stingers

Defenseman Jacob Herauf (225GP, 6G, 46A with Red Deer and Victoria ’16-’20) has headed to Montreal to join the Concordia Stingers. When the Royals announced earlier this month that Herauf won’t be joining the team as one of its 20-year-old players, Herauf committed to Concordia University. Herauf was the 16th overall pick at the 2015 WHL Draft by the Red Deer Rebels.
