Brad Morrison (334GP, 112G, 150A with Prince George, Vancouver, and Lethbridge ’12-’18) has been traded to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Olli Maatta. A fourth-round draft pick of the New York Rangers in 2015, Morrison has played the last two seasons in the Los Angeles Kings farm system. Last year he played for the Fort Wayne Komets scoring six times and adding 13 assists in 17 games.
Rubins loaned to Frederikshavn White Hawks

Kristians Rubins (109GP, 10G, 41A with Medicine Hat ’16-’18) has been loaned by the Toronto Maple Leafs to Frederikshavn White Hawks of Denmark’s top professional league. It is expected he will join the Toronto Marlies (AHL) when their season begins. In 2018-19 Rubins won the ECHL Championship with the Newfoundland Growlers. Last season Rubins played for the Toronto Marlies and scored twice while contributing 12 assists in 47 games.

The Brandon Wheat Kings announced in a video on their website that they have added Mason Beers of Virginia Beach, USA to their team. Beers is a cancer survivor who has had a reoccurrence of cancer recently. The players and staff welcomed Beers with the video as well as a custom jersey and other items. Beers is one of the team’s biggest fans, especially from an area underserved in the hockey market.

David Rutherford (163GP, 57G, 54A with Vancouver and Spokane ’04-’08) has signed with Diables Rouges de Briancon of the top professional league in France. Last season Rutherford played with DEAC of the Erste Liga scoring seven times and adding five assists in 10 games. Rutherford has won six different championships including two Ed Chynoweth Cups, a Memorial Cup, ECHL, CHL (USA), and the EIHL.
