A day after fellow overager Bryce KIndopp signed with the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks, Everett Silvertips defenseman Jake Christiansen has inked a contract with the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets. Christiansen has been red hot since returning to the WHL from the AHL’s Stockton Heat, scoring 20 goals and adding 27 assists in 35 games with Everett this season.
Rockets recall 2019 second-round pick

The Kelowna Rockets have recalled forward Nolan Flamand from the Saskatoon Blazers of the SMHL. The 2019 second-round pick of the Rockets has eight goals and 43 assists in 43 games with the Blazers this season. The Blazers were knocked out of the playoffs by the Tisdale Trojans in the first round of the SMAAAHL playoffs.
Hitmen recall Neill from Wild
The Hitmen have recalled 16-year-old prospect Rory Neill from the Winnipeg Wild of the Manitoba Midget Hockey League. The defenceman posted 52 points in 35 games this season. Calgary selected Neill in the third round, 62nd overall, in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft. pic.twitter.com/rdGsrE0rf1

The Calgary Hitmen recalled Rory Neill from the Winnipeg Wild of the MMHL. Drafted in the third round in 2018, Neill posted 14 goals and 38 assists in 35 games.

Luke Prokop has joined his brother Josh on the injury list with a lower-body injury that kept him out on Wednesday.

Red Deer approves upgrades for Centrium

The City of Red Deer has approved $3 million in upgrades to the Westerner Park Centrium to be completed in 2020. Funding had been previously approved however work was supposed to be spread out over a three-year period. Improvements will be made to the dressing rooms, washrooms, scoreboard and video equipment. It is the hope of all involved that the work completed can be done before the start of the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championships.

The Weekly Rankings from the CHL came out once again with the Everett Silvertips leading the charge for the WHL in fourth place. The Edmonton Oil Kings were stagnant. Portland fell to the sixth spot and the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Spokane Chiefs earning honourable mention.

The Medicine Hat Tigers have gone with one of the more unique looks for WHL Suits Up to Support Organ Donation night. Instead of the typical baby blue, the Tigers are going with orange jerseys with the logo from the old-style “Hockey Night in Canada”.

- Lethbridge’s Calen Addison played in his 250 the WHL game while Justin Hall played game #100.
- Spokane’s Adam Beckman tallied his 100th point of the season Wednesday
- Vancouver Giants equipment manager Shingo Sasaki worked his 500th WHL game. Drew Sim made his WHL debut coming into relieving Trent Miner early in the first period.
- Jadon Joseph played in his 250th WHL game.

Terry Bangen who had two stints as an assistant coach with the Kamloops Blazers from 1989-1995 and 2014-18 will be inducted into the Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2020. Bangen also worked with the Tri-City Americans from 1998-2014 in various roles.
