The Seattle Thunderbirds have traded forward Alex Morozoff to the Saskatoon Blades for a sixth-round pick in 2023. The move allows Morozoff to be close to home while his family deals with a medical issue. In 22 games this season, he had four goals and one assist.

The Seattle Thunderbirds have also recalled Spencer Penner from the Eastman Selects Midget AAA program in the MMHL. In 19 games this season he’s notched one goal and eight assists.

Kamloops Blazers defenseman Montana Onyebuchi has been suspended one game for this hit on Winnipeg ICE goaltender Liam Hughes. He won’t play tonight vs. Moose Jaw and will be eligible to return against Regina.

The Kamloops Blazers made two separate call-up announcements on Monday first calling up defenseman Logan Bairos from the Saskatoon Blazers of the SMHL and Tye Spencer from the Saskatoon Contacts. Bairos has five goals and 15 assists in 25 games while Spencer has five goals and four assists in 16 games.

Likely in response to the Montana Onyebuchi suspension, the Blazers also recalled defenseman Mats Lindgren from the Burnaby Winter Club prep team in the CSSHL. In 16 games this year he has 10 assists. Bairos and Spencer will join the team in Regina while Lindgren will be with the team in Moose Jaw.

According to a report from TSN’s Rick Westhead, 61 current and former WHL players out of a possible 1037 have opted out of a minimum-wage class-action lawsuit against the WHL launched by five former players. Players had until July of 2019 to opt-out of the lawsuit.

Everett Silvertips defenseman Jake Christiansen has been named the WHL Player of the Week after returning to the league from the AHL’s Stockton Heat. In three games since he returned, he posted five goals and three assists.

For the second time this season, Victoria Royals goaltender Shane Farkas has been named the WHL Goaltender of the Week. He posted a perfect 2-0-0-0 record this week with a 1.19 GAA and .963 save percentage.
