The EC-KAC continues to work on the squad for the coming season in the win2day ICE Hockey League. The Red Jackets were now able to extend the contract with Matt Fraser.
Matt Fraser will be in the EC-KAC squad in 2020 and has been able to demonstrate his offensive qualities again and again over these six years. 101 “regular season goals” speak for themselves. And there are more to come.
First league contact in Dornbirn
After a few years in which Fraser switched back and forth between the AHL and NHL, the 87-time NHL crack moved to Europe for the first time in 2016. His first club outside North America was the Swedish first division club Rögle BK. But in the summer of 2017 he moved to Vorarlberg, Fraser joined the Dornbirn Bulldogs and showed what he was capable of with 27 goals in 51 games. This did not go unnoticed by other European clubs; the Augsburg Panthers secured the services of the Canadian, who spent two years at the Bavarian club.
Points guarantee in red and white
Matt Fraser has been storming at Wörthersee since 2020 and has already played 254 games this season for the Red Jackets. His points tally is impressive – the winger was able to collect 176 points. He collected 48 more points in 73 playoff games. He delivered his most offensively successful season in 2023/24, when he scored 22 goals and 40 scorer points in 42 games.
The contract with the attacker has now been extended for another year and Fraser is entering his seventh season with the record champions from Klagenfurt. KAC head coach Kirk Furey appears on “kac.at“Very happy to continue to have the accurate striker in the squad: “He played a big part in championships and long playoff runs in Klagenfurt, plays an important role in the leadership group of our team and has always proven to be a reliable goalscorer for this team over the years. The consistency with which he scores is a quality that only a few players have, and we also took that into account in our decision to continue to rely on him.”
