The test match in Budweis scheduled for next Friday (February 13, 2026) will not take place due to numerous failures by the Czech team and will be canceled without replacement.
After five days off last week, the Steinbach Black Wings Linz started team training again last weekend. Head coach Philipp Lukas and his staff have started the preparation for the final spurt in the win2day ICE Hockey League. In five games, the Linz team will fight to extend their season after the regular season and to take part in the pre-playoffs.
Too many failures by the opponent
In order to work specifically on their difficulties, especially on foreign ice, those responsible have scheduled a test match with the Czech extra league team from Budweis for next Friday. In this, Brian Lebler and Co. were supposed to put their processes to the test under real conditions. On Tuesday afternoon, however, the Upper Austrians received a cancellation for the match. Due to a wave of illness and additional injury-related absences at HC České Budějovice, the game will not take place and there will be no replacement.
The Upper Austrians continue in the win2day ICE Hockey League on Wednesday, February 18th in Feldkirch, before a home double awaits Linz. Tickets for the matches against the Vienna Capitals and Laibach are available online at tickets.blackwings.at and at the box office.
