National player Mathias Böhm changes ligainters!

The EC Red Bull Salzburg has signed a young Austrian player with striker Mathias Böhm. The 22-year-old native of Klosterneuburger comes from the Vienna Capitals and is said to give the squad of the Red Bulls more depth.

Mathias Böhm grew up at the Juniors of the Vienna Capitals and made the leap into the Vienna professional team step by step. On the way there he was also part of the squad of the Austrian U18 and U20 national team. The striker, which has grown 1.90 meters tall, made his debut in the 2021/22 season at the age of 18 in the Vienna Capitals’ professional team, but played for two years in the AHL or Austrian U20 league. In the last two seasons, Böhm then played full of Win2day Ice Hockey League (83 SP | 7 t | 10 a) and showed his potential even in several missions in the Austrian national team.

Statement Mathias Böhm

“When the opportunity arose, I didn’t have to think twice. I am very happy to get the chance in Salzburg. Of course, I know what I get into. Salzburg is the strongest team in the league and the competition within the team is great. But I want to fight for ‘my Leiberl’ and find it good because we boy can also push my body well as a big striker, I can use my body well. I love the hard game with my long racket.

Statement Manny Viveiros, Head Coach EC Red Bull Salzburg

“Mathias is a very talented player who can help us achieve our goals. We look forward to working with him, further developing him and taking advantage of his potential as an ice hockey player.”

The Red Bulls are looking forward to a young striker who gives the squad more depth with the experience of more than two seasons in Win2day Ice Hockey League. Böhm should also develop in Salzburg and also develop his professional missions in the competition with other young Salzburg players who push the Red Bull Hockey Juniors (AHL) team in daily training.
