Lausanne returns to victory, Geneva settles for one point

For Geoff Ward’s men, this part was of some importance. It was indeed necessary to put an end to a negative series of three defeats in a row, but also to take revenge after the spanking received (6-1) in Bienne more than a week ago.

In a match where the defenses took precedence over the attacks, the 9,000 spectators had to wait for the 23rd and a victorious throw from Lauri Pajuniemi to be entitled to a goal. Lausanne, with Oksanen and Glauser back, spared no effort with 40 shots on an excellent Harri Säteri. The Zealanders were more discreet with 21 shots. This allowed Kevin Pasche to improve his statistics by offering himself a fifth shutout this season.

And yet Martin Filander was finally able to count on their top scorer Toni Rajala, after Biel’s appeal against the suspension of two matches for touching an official had been accepted.

This success allows the LHC to recover third place with 49 points. Bienne is standing still in 7th place with 37 units.

The Genevans didn’t miss much to achieve a fifth consecutive success. Vincent Praplan probably shouldn’t have gone to the penalty box at the end of the third period for a cane in the face of a Davos player.

Because even if Stransky scored the decisive 2-1 at 4 against 4 in overtime, Jan Cadieux’s players had just found their man punished on the ice.

Without Teemu Hartikainen, who returned to the European Cup on Tuesday but was injured again, the garnet coach had to make do. Fortunately, he was able to field six foreigners with Raanta in goal, Lennström and Vatanen in defense, and Granlund, Manninen and Palve in attack.

Manninen also stood out with his 11th goal of the year at the 11th in power play, but that was not enough. Tambellini was able to equalize in the 44th minute and Stransky gave his team the second point.
