After the NHL ends: Ovechkin is planning an emotional career finale!

The signs are increasing: Alex Ovechkin spoke openly in an interview about the end of his career in the NHL and named a clear dream destination. The Russian superstar wants to end his extraordinary career in his homeland.

In conversation with the Washington Capitals Blog RMNB the 40-year-old confirmed that he wanted to return to Russia after his NHL time. His big goal: an emotional comeback at Dynamo Moscow, the club where his professional career began.

Ovechkin’s contract with the Washington Capitals expires after the current season. Whether he will extend his stay in the NHL again or take the step in the summer is still officially open. However, one thing is clear: the end of his NHL career is getting closer – and is no longer a distant thought.

The KHL is also monitoring the situation closely. League President Alexei Morozov confirmed that talks with Ovechkin are planned once his NHL contract expires. At the same time, he emphasized that they did not want to put the goalscorer under pressure during the current season.

People in Washington are cautious. Capitals GM Chris Patrick said there have been no concrete discussions about Ovechkin’s future after this season.
