ICEHL: Graz99ers access Nick Swaney: “I like the bunker”

The Moser Medical Graz99ers are currently on training camps in Kitzbühel. There are many looks at the top access Nick Swaney, who wants to help the Styrians with goals.

The Graz99ers also failed due to a lack of goal yield in the playoff quarter-final series on the Black Wings Linz. In the storm, the Styrians have partially reorganized themselves with Swaney, Chris Collins, Josh Currie and the Austro-Crack Nico Feldner. Fresh wind is supposed to get the goal machine up and running again.

For Swaney, the commitment in the Styrian state capital is the first outside of North America. He moves directly from the American Hockey League to the Mur: “Harry Lange and Philipp Pinter personally visited me in Chicago at Ahl-Club Wolves last season, told me about the new team and their ambitions,” said Swaney to the
Kronen Zeitung.

Swaney impressed by a new place of work

The 27-year-old wing striker also played with Austro-Export Marco Rossi, who only reported him the best about Austria: “Before I played with Marco Rossi, I didn’t know much about Austria. But he only told me the best.” Now Swaney can get an idea of it himself. The first impression, especially from the home of the Graz99ers, is good: “The organization of the 99ers, the ice rink, the fans, all of this is really cool. I like the bunker.”

The 171-time AHL-crack describes itself as a complete striker, very reliable and defensively. He takes advantage of his pace and makes goals. So exactly what the Grazer was looking for. The contract of the right-wing shooter is not interested in the time afterwards: “For the time being, I will take one game after the other. Now we have to quickly grow together as a team, create the play-offs and then maybe win the title. I would like to help the team with goals.”

Perhaps Swaney can celebrate his first goal in the dress of Styrian tomorrow. In Kitzbühel you duel with the Adler Mannheim on Thursday and Sunday.
