The polar bear squad is taking on more and more concrete forms. With Aljaz Predan, another top performer will also play for the EKZ in the coming season.
Aljaz Predan is now in his third season for Zell am See. In the last two seasons he joined the team in the middle of the season, this time he will be there from the start. The Slovenian with an Austrian license is a smart center who always has a good eye for his teammates and has a strong understanding of the game. He is strong in the face-off circle and is always good for goals himself. With number 89 (from next season #19), the Eisbären are extending a good all-rounder who can fill several roles well and adapt his game flexibly to the required circumstances.
DATA CHECK
Last season, Predan only played 26 games for the Black Wings Linz before moving to the EKZ at the end of January. A further 21 appearances followed with 15 goal involvements (1 goal, 14 assists). In the +/- statistics he has +5 for the Eisbären and he has collected 12 penalty minutes.
CAREER
He was born on July 24, 2000, in Ptuj, Slovenia. He matured into a professional with the RB Hockey Juniors, through which he gradually rose to the fighting team and made the jump to the Slovenian national team. In 2023 the move to Olimpija Ljubljana, in 2024 to the Capitals and at the end of the season to the Eisbären. Last season, as I said, first at Linz, then again at Zell. Predan has already won several titles at his young age, including two ICEHL championships, an Alps Hockey League title, as well as the Slovenian national championship and the Austrian title in the Alps Hockey League.

Aljaz Predan: “So far I’ve always only come to Zell before the playoffs, but I know exactly what the task is here: to win! We got the title once, last season we narrowly failed. So I know what’s expected of us next season. One reason for signing here is certainly Marcel Rodman, with whom I have a good relationship, as well as Patrick Schwarz. I also get along very well with the guys in the dressing room and I’ve always felt comfortable in Zell. I’m happy to be able to stay here.”
Head coach Marcel Rodman: “Predan is a weapon offensively. Not everything went ideally for him at the end of the season, but he is very creative and someone you can rely on, who will always contribute goals and make good plays. His whereabouts is another piece of the puzzle in the big picture that we are working on.”
