World Cup: Does the ÖEHV team receive support from the NHL?

With the end of the NHL regular season approaching, Austrians are also looking at the upcoming World Cup – and the possible reinforcements of Marco Rossi and Marco Kasper.

Marco Rossi

For Marco Rossi, the situation is already relatively clear: his Vancouver Canucks no longer have a chance of making the playoffs, which means his season will end in mid-April. After a season marked by injuries, the Vorarlberg native is now fully fit again and is one of the most noticeable players on his team. Under these circumstances, participation in the World Cup in Zurich seems very likely. For the Austrian national team, Rossi would be an enormous reinforcement in attack due to his overview of the game and offensive creativity.

Marco Kasper

The situation is different for Marco Kasper. The young striker is still fighting for a place in the playoffs with the Detroit Red Wings. Detroit has fallen behind a bit recently, but its chance of making the postseason still exists.

If the Red Wings miss the playoffs, Kasper would also be very likely to take part in the World Cup. The question of NHL support for Austria therefore largely depends on Detroit’s performance in the last games of the season. According to “LAOLA”, there are currently many indications that at least Rossi will be available immediately – and possibly Kasper too.
