Will there be reinforcements for the World Cup? Two ÖEHV exports eliminated!

The Austrian national team could have some prominent reinforcements shortly before the start of the Ice Hockey World Cup. With David Reinbacher and Vinzenz Rohrer, two ÖEHV legionnaires were eliminated in the AHL playoffs – this would make participation in the World Cup at least theoretically possible.

Bitter playoff exit for Laval

The Laval Rocket were narrowly defeated by the Toronto Marlies 2-3 in the decisive fifth game of the playoff series. This also ends the “best-of-five” series with 2:3 from the perspective of the team from Canada.

For Reinbacher and Rohrer, the early end of the season also means that the path to the national team could now be open.

Canadiens have the final say

Whether the ÖEHV duo is actually allowed to travel to the World Cup still depends on the Montreal Canadiens. The NHL organization still holds the rights to both players and is still in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

A final release is therefore still pending.
