VSV scorer Nick Hutchison: “I notice that my style is well received by the fans!”

After the 3-1 win over Vorarlberg, VSV striker Nick Hutchison had two reasons to be happy: the US national team secured Olympic gold for the first time since 1980, and VSV also secured their ticket for the pre-playoffs against Villach.

The 30-year-old New Yorker is proud of his home country’s success. He crossed paths with current NHL stars like Charlie McAvoy and Tage Thompson at a young age. The striker has long since become a crowd favorite in Villach. “I like it here. I notice that my style is well received by the fans,” Hutchison told the “Crown newspaper“. His contract with VSV runs until 2027.

In terms of sport, Hutchison made a strong statement in the home win against Vorarlberg: with a brace he ended a six-game goal drought. “I somehow had an assist in almost every game recently – I actually prefer to be the shooter and don’t like not being able to score for a long time.”

After the two goals against the Pioneers, the US crack has a total of 17 goals this season, only Adam Helewka has more goals with 24 goals. His 31 points in 34 appearances also mean fifth place in the internal scorer ranking. The Adler from Draustadt now have two games left in the regular season. The last away game of the season awaits next Friday, which will be played by the Graz99ers. The regular season ends on Sunday with a home game against HC Pustertal.
