The VSV has committed a physically strong attacker with the American center forward Nick Hutchison. In conversation with the Small newspaper The newcomer talks about its strengths and the goals for the coming season!
“We are a strong group with consistently good characters,” said the 29-year-old in an interview with the Small newspaper. The newcomer emphasized that he and his teammates had been “taken up with open arms” and that the city of Villach immediately agreed.
After changing several club changes in recent years, Hutchison feels the two-year contract with the VSV as beneficial: “After many changes in the club, it is good to have received a two-year contract again. That gives me some planning security again.”
The American does not yet know the ICE Hockey League from his own experience, but has prepared well. Especially the contact with defender Dylan Macpherson, with whom he played in Echl in 2021/22, played a role in his decision: “He made Villach tasty for me. So far I have been anything but regretted.”
In terms of sport, Hutchison has a clear goal: “Of course, the primary goal is a fixed playoff place, after that everything can happen.” He himself wants to bring in his strengths: “I think I’m a solid two-way player who can cause chaos, especially in front of the opposing goal, go hard into the duels and is physically present.”
It is still open who he will play in a line with. “In the next few weeks, the coaches will surely try some constellations. In the end, everyone has to find their role in the team. If we succeed, we will be successful.”
