VSV hall conversion: standing room remains, but no more “blue and white wall”.

The planned renovation of the Villach ice rink continues to cause discussions among fans. VSV managing director Martin Winkler clearly rejected rumors about a seating-only hall in the “Kleine Zeitung”. Even after completion there will still be standing room.

However, the supporters have to say goodbye to the desire for the return of a large standing stand on the long side. There will no longer be a so-called “blue and white wall” for security reasons. According to Winkler, the permitted capacity is based on escape routes and emergency exits, not on the available space. A standing-room stand on the long side would now hold significantly fewer fans than before and would therefore bring economic disadvantages.

Increased capacity by relocating the ice machine

However, the standing room behind the goals will remain. The escape routes there have already been adapted to the official requirements. Positive for the future: Relocating the ice machine between the two halls creates an additional escape route and will enable a higher overall capacity of the hall.
