As already reported, VSV goalie Rene Swette could be over after this season. Now the 37-year-old commented on his sporting future and left at least a small gap open.
“I won’t move anywhere else,” Swette made it clear to the “Kronen Zeitung”. A change of club is out of the question for him. His future is entirely up to him EC VSV tied. If there is no extension in Villach, he would hang up his goalkeeper equipment.
But he hasn’t completely finished his career thoughts yet. “If it were up to me, I would like to add another season,” said Swette, with a view to possibly continuing to play. The decision now rests with the club.
The veteran has been under contract with the Eagles since 2023 and has contributed his experience in 15 games so far. Most recently he showed off a strong performance in Graz.
It remains to be seen whether there will actually be another season or whether Swette will finally say goodbye in the spring. The only thing that is clear is that if he continues, it will only be in blue and white.
