VSV boss Winkler on a possible Helewka change: “Only with a high transfer fee!”

Adam Helewka is said to be about to leave VSV – at least that has already been reported. Adler managing director Martin Winkler now spoke up.

“The fact is that Adam has a contract with VSV,” Winkler told the “Small newspaper“Helewka signed this in May 2025 and runs until the end of the 2026/27 season. The club has an option to terminate the contract early. But this does not exist for the players.

Return overseas?

During the final discussions, Helewka is said to have stated that he was planning a return to North America: “Adam let us know that he wanted to go back overseas and that he wanted the children to grow up there.” The VSV would of course release the player for this.

Rumors about an engagement in Germany

But there are rumors that Helewka is already with the Dresden Ice Lions, who are said to have made him a lucrative offer. A change within Europe would only be an option for VSV in conjunction with a high transfer fee: “If a club requests a request, we will either a) not give approval or b) if we do, then only with a high transfer fee.”
