Villach eagle in free fall!

Nothing came of the plan to get back on track before the Christmas break. Instead there was the next setback, and that was at the bottom of the table from Innsbruck. At VSV the house blessing is hanging wrong.

In the last eight games, the Eagles have only been able to leave the ice as winners once – in a 4-1 away win at HC Bozen. Five points out of a possible 24 is far too few. Due to the negative run, the Draustadt team slipped to 8th place in the table. The lead over 11th place and thus missing the pre-playoffs is now only five points, direct playoff qualification is already ten points away.

VSV head coach Pierre Allard is very matter-of-fact about the “Crown newspaper“: “That wasn’t enough”. Now there is a few days’ break on the agenda before the next derby against the eternal rivals from Klagenfurt on St. Stephen’s Day. “The boys should clear their heads over Christmas. Training continues on the 25th. That’s the only thing we can do,” said the main trainer.

There is little to cheer about for Allard in his first position as head coach. Although the 53-year-old Canadian made his debut successfully, there have been four defeats since then and only one point was taken away. In short: five games under Allard, one win, four points.
