Villach as a guest in Landshut!

With the fourth test game of ongoing preparation, the next touchstone is waiting for the EC IDM heat pumps VSV: On Sunday (VR-Bank Arena, Start: 3:00 p.m., live on Sporteurope.tv), the blue-whites are guest at EV Landshut.

The starting situation:

After the two narrow defeats against Kassel (3: 4) and Wolfsburg (4: 5) and the clear 6-1 victory against Zell am See, the team of Head Coach Tray Tuomie wants to make further progress in interaction and, above all, find more stability on the defensive. The duel with the traditional Bavarian club offers the next opportunity to refine the processes in all parts of the team and at the same time collect valuable knowledge against a physically and playfully strong opponent. Even if it is “only” a preparatory game, the motto applies to the VSV: the content rehearsed in training consistently and avoid the negligence that recently kept fighting – starting with loss of windows in the forward movement, and even uncontrocated in their own third.

The opponent:

The EV Landshut goes into the new DEL2 season with a lot of tailwind. The traditional club, which has been represented several times in the playoffs in recent years and can refer to two championship titles in 1970 and 1983, is considered an unpleasant opponent, which is difficult to conquer, especially in the domestic VR Bank Arena. The focus is particularly on the newcomers: striker Trevor Gooch, who was one of the top offensively forces of the Austrian league in the two pre-oisons and is supposed to ensure immediate offensive risk, as well as Oliver Stümpel, a young but playful center, who should enliven the offensive with overview and creativity. On the defensive, Landshut relies on Stanislav Dietz’s experience, which with its duel and calm at the Puck and his six-year DEL experience should ensure additional stability. Tobias Lindberg also takes on a key role, who, with its size, physique and goal, should also enrich the offensive. The 30-year-old Schwede contributed 19 direct hits, 17 assists and 103 minutes of penalty in 35 DEL2 games for Crimmitschau.

From the statistics corner:

In preparation, newcomer Steven Strong presented himself strikingly strongly, who in his three missions won the impressive 54.3 % of his duels, had a Corsi rating of 78.7 % and also contributed a goal against the Wolfsburg Grizzlys. In the offensive third, “Altmeister” John Hughes set accents: With 7 points (three goals, four assists) and a Corsi rating of 65.2%, the Austro-Canadian shone with his storm formation (Kevin Hancock and Maximilian Rebernig) and made the performance of the previous season seamlessly. In addition, statistically, Philipp Lindner is still statistically emerging the defensive foundation: with an average ice age of 18:21 minutes and a total of 11 window conquests, he previously underlined its central role in the defense.
