The Vienna Capitals are strengthening themselves for the post-season of the win2day ICE Hockey League with Kevin Macierzynski and Ramón Schnetzer. The duo is moving from the Pioneers Vorarlberg to the Danube city.
The two people from Vorarlberg have a lot of experience at ICE level. Pioneers captain Macierzynski has played 640 games in the multinational league over the course of his career. National player Schnetzer has 401 appearances in the win2day ICE Hockey League. The regulations of the win2day ICE Hockey League allow the Capitals to complete these changes shortly before the international transfer deadline.
Kevin Macierzynski was born on June 21, 1992 in Feldkirch. The 33-year-old attacker also spent most of his career in his home state of Vorarlberg. Macierzynski was trained at VEU Feldkirch and played 74 games for their team between 2009 and 2012 in what was then the National League. In the 2012/13 season, the attacker left his home state for the first time to join the Steinbach Black Wings Linz. From 2012 to 2015, Macierzynski recorded 104 appearances for the Upper Austrians. The left-handed shooter then moved back home. From 2015 to 2022, the Vorarlberg native went on the ice for the Dornbirn Bulldogs. The attacker made 352 appearances for the Unterländer in seven seasons. This puts Macierzynski in third place on the Bulldogs’ all-time best list. After Dornbirner’s exit from the top division, the now 33-year-old continued his career with the Pioneers Vorarlberg. His 184 appearances in four seasons are only surpassed by Ivan Korecký. In the current season, Macierzynski scored 22 points, made up of twelve goals and ten assists. For the Pioneers captain, the previous regular season was the highest-scoring period of his professional career.
Like Macierzynski, Ramón Schnetzer was born in Feldkirch. The Vorarlberg native learned the sport of ice hockey both in his homeland and in neighboring Switzerland. For the 2016/17 season, the left-handed shooter moved to the EC-KAC organization, for which he made his first appearances in the multinational league. The defender played 108 competitive games for the Red Jackets professional team. In the 2018/19 season, Schnetzer and Co. secured the championship against the Vienna Capitals. During the 2019/20 season, the Vorarlberg native moved to the Dornbirn Bulldogs. In one and a half seasons for the Unterländer, the defender played 96 competitive games. For the 2021/22 season, Schnetzer went to the Steinbach Black Wings Linz. The defender went on the ice 106 times in two seasons. He played the 2023/24 season in the Swiss League for HC Thurgau. Schnetzer spent the last two seasons with the Pioneers Vorarlberg, for whom the defender played 95 competitive games. In the last regular season, the 29-year-old recorded 18 scorer points (4 goals + 14 assists), which corresponds to the most offensively productive basic season of his professional career. Schnetzer has been part of ÖEHV team boss Roger Bader’s regular squad for years. At the 2025 World Cup, where the red-white-red selection reached the quarter-finals for the first time since 1994, the defender played all eight games. Over the course of his career, Schnetzer played 69 international matches.
Statement Kevin Macierzynski
“I’m really happy about my move to Vienna. Everything has happened very quickly in the last few days. The games against the Caps have always been hot this season, the atmosphere in the STEFFL Arena was always great. I’m really looking forward to the pre-playoff series against Fehérvár. We definitely want to take the next step. Hopefully I’ll fit in very well in a well-coordinated team and want to get started right away on Wednesday.”
Statement Ramón Schnetzer
“I partly grew up in Vienna and have wanted to play here for a long time, now it has finally worked out. So I’m really happy about my move to the Capitals. I’m used to it over the last few years that things continue seamlessly for me after the regular season with the Pioneers. Be it with the national team or last season with Graz. I’m really looking forward to the playoffs and playoff ice hockey, I’m ready!
Statement Christian Dolezal, sporting director of the Vienna Capitals
“As has been the case throughout the season, the personnel situation before the upcoming pre-playoffs is a vexing issue for us. Since there are a number of players who have to play with some serious injuries, we have strengthened ourselves with two players who have plenty of experience at the highest level. The league regulations allow us to upgrade again. I am pleased that we can welcome Kevin and Ramón to us in Vienna for the hot phase of the season.”
