“It was a real work victory,” concluded Head coach Peter Schweda the opening success together. His team showed a solid team performance from start to finish, taking a 2-0 lead in the first third with goals from Lennart Leitner and Paul Sintschnig.
Immediately after the start of the second period, Italy reduced the score to 1:2, and shortly afterwards both teams were unable to take advantage of a power play. Johannes Dobrovolny was there in the 35th minute to make it 3-1 for Austria. The ÖEHV selection created a total of more chances than their opponents and used another one in the final third through David Niederleitner in the power play to make the final score 4-1.
Head coach Peter Schweda: “As nice as this victory is, it is already ticked off again. We are already preparing for tomorrow’s game, will first analyze France via video and hold a meeting with the team.”
