The men’s Olympic ice hockey tournament starts in Milan in a few weeks. And in the middle of it all, two cracks with ICE connections.
The Latvian national ice hockey team starts the tournament on February 12th with a duel against the USA. Other opponents are Germany on February 14th and Denmark the next day.
Renars Krastenbergs is also in Latvia’s squad. The 27-year-old stormed in 44 games this season for VSV and 30 more for the Graz99ers. In 74 games, the striker scored 32 goals and 59 points. This year the left-handed shooter is on the ice at HC Olomouc in the Czech top league and was able to collect 18 scorer points in 37 appearances.
Roberts Bukarts, who is currently lacing up his skates for the Pioneers Vorarlberg, was also called up. The 35-year-old veteran has scored six points there so far. Brother Rihards stormed for the EC-KAC in 2022/23 but was not called up.
