The EC iDM Heat Pumps VSV can continue to count on the services of its captain in the future: Alexander Rauchwald has signed a new two-year contract with the Blue-Whites and will therefore continue to play a central role in the Adler team.
A real Villach homegrown product
The Villacher is currently in his second phase with VSV. He went through the Villach squad in his youth and stayed with the Adler until the 2013/14 season. After several years at Red Bull Salzburg and a stint in Sweden, he returned to his hometown for the 2022/23 season and has been playing again for the EC iDM Heat Pumps VSV ever since.
Experience, consistency and title
The center now has enormous experience in the top Austrian league: In total, he played 633 games in the regular season and in the playoffs, scoring 112 goals and 168 assists. With a total of 280 points in 14 seasons, he is one of the most consistent Austrian players in the league. During his time at Red Bull Salzburg he was also able to celebrate the Austrian championship title twice.
Leader figure in blue and white
At VSV, the center forward has long since developed into a real blue and white veteran. In what is now his third season, he leads the Eagles on the ice as captain and will continue to fill this role in the coming years.
He had his best season in points with Villach in his first season after returning: in the 2022/23 season he recorded 13 goals and 19 assists for a total of 32 points in 47 games. He also contributed another assist in the subsequent playoffs.
With his experience and leadership strength, the center will continue to play an important role in the team structure in the future – both on and off the ice. In addition to his role as a reliable center forward, he will take on a central role in the further development of the young players in the squad and at the same time continue to shape the identity of the blue and whites.
