Strong performances
The 19-year-old attacker drew attention to himself with strong performances last season and has already collected nine scorer points for the Red Jackets in his first full ICEHL season. Now the next career step towards North America could be imminent for the Klagenfurt native.
Waschnig was pleased with the draft to the “Kronen Zeitung”: “This shows me that I have developed well in recent years.”
No decision has been made yet
However, the youngster is currently completing his high school diploma. It still seems to be unclear whether the move overseas will actually take place. Player agent
Peter Kasper emphasizes that no final decision has been made yet: “The draft doesn’t mean he’ll play there. We’ll discuss and then decide.”
In any case, a possible departure would be a loss for the KAC, after all Waschnig is considered one of the most exciting homegrown talents of recent years. Whether the youngster will play in the USHL next fall or stay in Klagenfurt will likely be decided in the next few weeks.
