HC TIWAG Innsbruck-Die Haie has awarded the next import spot. Connor Mayer will strengthen the Sharks defense next season. The soon-to-be 27-year-old American is moving to Tyrol from the South Carolina Stingrays of the East Coast Hockey League, but has also made 23 appearances in the American Hockey League in the last two seasons. HCI head coach Ryan Kinasewich knows the defender well, having had him under his wing for a few games during his time as coach of the Utah Grizzlies (ECHL).
Connor Mayer should and will give the Sharks defense more calm and stability in the coming season.
Connor Mayer:
“From the first contact and the first conversation, I had the feeling that HCI was the right club for me. The decision to move to Innsbruck was easy for me. Now I can hardly wait to get started, get to know the team and give everything for the club and the fans.”
HC TIWAG Innsbruck head coach Ryan Kinasewich and co Florian Pedevilla:
“Connor is known above all for his defensive work. He always gives 100% on the ice, is strong in duels and has great game intelligence. Connor is a top skater, has a good first pass and is a calm source in the team in tight game situations. We are pleased to welcome Connor as a shark.”
