Today the Zeller Eisbären can announce the next contract extension. Paul Schmid has extended his working paper by one year and will therefore also wear the Eisbären’s blue and yellow jersey next season.
With Paul Schmid, the Eisbären were able to extend a real character player. His mentality on the ice, his excellent skating and his physical game fit perfectly with head coach Marcel Rodman’s playing philosophy. In addition to his 185cm and 85kg, the two-way center also stood out last season with his excellent face-off statistics of 55.8%.
CAREER
Paul Schmid was born on June 10, 2000 in Linz and went through the entire youth department of the Black Wings Linz before his path took him to Norway in the summer of 2017. At Skien IHK he played three seasons in the U18 and U21 teams in Norway’s highest youth league. In the fall of 2020, the then 20-year-old went overseas, first to the Amarillo Bulls in the NAHL and then later to the NCAA to the University. of St. Thomas, and then to Norwich University for two more years. Schmid joined the Kitzbühler Adler in 2024/25 before moving to Lake Zell last summer.
