The playoffs start in the Alps Hockey League today!

The “best-of-seven” quarter-final series in the Alps Hockey League starts on Tuesday. Three duels are on the program: The top seeded EK Zeller Eisbären meets Vipiteno, and there are also the encounters Asiago – Meran and Sisak – Cortina. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors’ game against Val Gardena follows on Wednesday.

Alps Hockey League, quarterfinals game 1
Tuesday, March 10, 2026
EK The Zeller Eisbären – Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan

  • Zell am See chose the Wipptal Broncos as their opponents in the quarter-finals – a duel with history.
  • In each of the last two years, a team won the series 4-0. This year they have already met five times, with Zell winning four of these games.
  • In the last five years, the team that eliminated Vipiteno in the playoffs has always been champion.
  • With 537 penalty minutes, the Broncos are the team with the most penalties. That could be crucial against the Eisbären’s strong power play (27.3%)

KHL Sisak – SG Cortina Hafro

  • Sisak is playing his first playoff series in the Alps Hockey League.
  • With Cortina, the runner-up of 2023 awaits.
  • The Croatians slipped from third to fourth place in the Master Round, while the Italians qualified for the quarterfinals via the pre-playoffs.
  • Cortina won two of the three duels of the season – all matches ended with a difference of just one goal.

HC Migross Asiago – HC Meran/o Pircher

  • Asiago improved over the course of the season and ultimately took third place in the Master Round.
  • Meran has been in strong form in the last few weeks: After winning the Qualification Round A, the South Tyroleans confidently prevailed against Bregenzerwald in the pre-playoffs.
  • In the direct duels, Meran was narrowly defeated at home twice, but celebrated a clear 5-2 win away from home.
  • In addition, Meran was the sixth best away team in the league in the regular season.

Wednesday March 11, 2026
Red Bull Hockey Juniors – HC Gherdeina valgardena.it

  • After first place in the basic round, the juniors took second place in the master round.
  • Val Gardena has been in strong shape recently: After winning the Qualification Round B, they confidently beat Kitzbühel in the pre-playoffs.
  • This season, Salzburg won two of the three meetings.
  • With 14 wins from 18 home games, the Juniors were also the best home team of the regular season.
