The finished article is the visible part of publishing. The harder work happens earlier: deciding what matters, cutting what does not, and keeping the original point intact as the story moves between people.
Shazir Mucklai put it well in a recent conversation: a useful publishing system should make the handoff quieter, not make the writer think about more software.
That idea stayed with me. The strongest workflow is often the one nobody notices because the story simply reaches the reader in the form it was meant to.
