With a 5-1 win in the fourth semi-final game, the Graz99ers moved into the ICE Hockey League final for the first time in their club history.
The Moser Medical Graz99ers left nothing to be desired in the fourth semi-final and are now in the final for the first time in league history. After victories of 3:2, 5:1 and 4:0 in the first three games, they finally closed the bag with a 5:1 away win at Hydro Fehérvár AV19 on Easter Sunday. The guests were the dominant team throughout the game, but it took until the 24th minute before defender Kasper Kotkansalo scored to make it 1-0 for the 99ers. Then the spell was broken: just around a minute and a half later, playoff top scorer Lukas Haudum increased the score to 2-0. It was the 28-year-old’s third goal of the postseason and his 13th point overall. Just over five minutes later, Paul Huber scored in the power play. It was the 25-year-old’s sixth playoff goal, making him the new top scorer of the postseason. It remained 3-0 until the 48th minute, before the almost 5,000 fans in the MET Aréna Székesfehérvár were able to cheer. Anze Kuralt reduced the score to 1:3 and brought some tension back into the game. When Paul Huber had to go to the penalty box a short time later, the home fans had even more hope – but after a mistake by Hungary, Michael Schiechl scored with a shorthander to make it 4-1 and finally decide the game. The 37-year-old finally completed his double with Empty-Netter. The Graz99ers are still undefeated in the playoffs.
