Statement victory: Sisak defeated Meran by double digits in the second AlpsHL semi-final!

KHL Sisak celebrated a clear 10-3 win over HC Meran/o Pircher on Sunday and thus equalized the semi-final series. In the second duel within 24 hours, the Croatians scored three goals in the first third in front of their home crowd and pulled away to 8-2 in the middle period. Danila Larionovs shone with a hat trick. The “Best-of-7” series continues with a doubleheader in South Tyrol on Wednesday and Thursday.

After Meran won the opening game on Saturday 4-2 after a 0-2 deficit, Sisak was out for revenge again 24 hours later in front of his home crowd. In an initially balanced starting third, the Croatians were extremely efficient: in the third minute, a shot from Ivan Puzic from the blue line found its way into the goal. With a remarkable direct pass, Sangyeob Kim (9th) increased the score to 2-0 before Filip Kasparek scored just a few minutes later. We went into the first break with a 3-0 lead.

After the restart, an open exchange of blows developed, but once again the home team proved to be accurate. Five goals were scored within five minutes – including 21-year-old Kasparek’s first league brace – and Sisak pulled away to make it 7-1. In the 39th minute, Pascal Brunner scored the guests’ second goal, but before the second period break the home team responded: Larionovs scored for the second time while outnumbered and thus completed his hat trick.

At the beginning of the final third, which was characterized by penalties, David Trivellato shortened the score for Meran, but the hosts again scored the final point: Vito Idzan and Patrik Dobric scored twice to make the final score 10:3.
