Squad news: ICEHL team extends with three players!

The Steinbach Black Wings Linz can keep an important core of their Austrian tribe for the coming season. Henrik Neubauer (one year), Julian Pusnik and Niklas Würschl (two years each) have extended their contracts in the steel city.

Even if the Steinbach Black Wings Linz are facing major personnel changes after their early elimination from the win2day ICE Hockey League, they can still rely on an important trio. The Linzers’ local core was secured at an early stage and three supports were secured for the coming season.

With Julian Pusnik, an established striker – despite being only 26 years old – remains at the Untere Donaulände. The Carinthian native will enter his eighth season with the Stahlstadters in 2026. The winger has stood for physical consistency over the past three seasons and missed just eleven games during this period. He also contributes an average of around 15 points with his output in front of the opponent’s goal and was able to slightly increase his output again this year. However, Pusnik is much more valuable with his physicality and tenacity around the slot and will increasingly take on leadership qualities in head coach Philipp Lukas’ team in the next two years.

With his enormous speed, Henrik Neubauer cleverly slips into the space on the ice that becomes free. The Austro-Swede was also able to improve statistically in his second year in the state capital and scored 14 points (4 goals). The nimble attacker completed 49 of 50 missions this year and was particularly indispensable in penalty killing. At times the number 14 played his way from the fourth into the second strike formation with numerical balance, giving it important speed in the backward movement.

When it comes to preventing goals, Niklas Würschl has established himself as the red-white-red leader in defense. The 26-year-old led Linz in the first pair of defenders for the third year in a row and is used in all game situations. The right-handed shooter is therefore an essential building block for the Steinbach Black Wings Linz in order to stabilize their defense again in the future after a disappointing season. The number 46 will also take on even more responsibility in the next two years in black, orange and petrol.
