The Steinbach Black Wings Linz came out of the break with a complete success. The Upper Austrians celebrated a 2-0 win at the Pioneers Vorarlberg – this also means they are taking a big step towards pre-playoff qualification.
Linz had more of the encounter in the first half, but were unable to overcome the strong David Madlener in the first 20 minutes. The goalies and defense remained largely the focus in the second half. Only in the last minute of the middle third could we celebrate for the first time: Christoph Tialler overcame Madlener and scored his second goal of the season. The Pioneers tried to find their way back in the final period, but were unable to overcome Rasmus Tirronen. Graham Knott finally made the final score 2-0 just under two minutes before the end.
With this success, the Steinbach Black Wings Linz took another big step towards the pre-playoffs. Four games before the end of the regular season, the lead over eleventh-placed FTC-Telekom is already eight points.
