Shocking diagnosis: Ex-VEU coach is fighting serious illness

The former Swiss national ice hockey coach and former head coach of VEU Feldkirch

Ralph Krueger
has made it public that he is on
Parkinson’s disease

is ill – this is reported by the media “Tagesanzeiger”.

He received the diagnosis in November 2024 after the first symptoms such as tremors in his hand appeared.

Parkinson’s is a chronic, currently incurable neurological disease that primarily affects movements. Krueger describes the moment of the first symptoms as a loss of control, which was particularly dramatic for him.

Nevertheless, he is very combative and actively tries to influence the course of the disease.

He relies heavily on exercise and trains for several hours every day (e.g. skiing, swimming, strength training). His goal is to keep the quality of life as high as possible for as long as possible through physical activity.

He has also learned to deal with the symptoms and adapt his everyday life accordingly.

With his public statement he wants to encourage other affected people.
